Alternative pairing (AP mode, slow blink)
For mixed 2.4/5GHz routers: keep the phone on 2.4GHz, use AP mode (slow blink), then rename Other to Heated Airer.
You will need
- Phone on 2.4GHz before you start
- Willingness to join a temporary hotspot for one minute

Get a slow blink (AP mode)
Confirm the indicator is blinking slowly, then connect the phone to the SmartLife hotspot.

Do this
On the plug, hold the middle button until the indicator blinks slowly (about once every two to three seconds — not a rapid flicker). In Add Device, tap Net Pairing Mode (or the pairing mode drop-down) in the top right and choose AP Mode. EZ Mode is the default.
You should see
Confirm the indicator is blinking slowly, then Next.

Join the temporary hotspot
Confirm the indicator is blinking slowly, then connect the phone to the SmartLife hotspot.

Connect in phone settings, then return here

Do this
Open the phone’s WiFi settings. Connect to the hotspot that starts with SmartLife. Certain devices use a custom name (often SL-). Return to Smart Life — do not stay in Settings.
You should see
Phone connected to SmartLife-xxxx (or a custom hotspot) with no internet for a moment. That is expected.
Stay on this step. After pairing, the phone must return to your home 2.4GHz WiFi. If it sticks on the SmartLife hotspot, switch it back.

Finish naming
Device name — it still says Other

Do this
Wait for configuration to complete. The name will still be Other. Change it to Heated Airer and pick Utility.
You should see
Rename screen starting as Other, then the Home tile as Heated Airer.
